“ It is the grandest Chinese restaurant we have visited in the DMV area. It has the best food, excellent service, and trendy modern decor with high ceilings, and I am delighted with everything. I will come back to try more. ”
“ We went in with high hopes, it was rocky for a moment, but ended up being spectacular! The boohoo moment was our soup dumplings tore when lifted from the wax paper in the steamer, so soup ended up on the tableplate instead of the spoon...bummed! But then we found out that the wrappers are hand pressed each morning, so grace to the hard work. The rest of the items more than made up for it...the cumin lamb, dry chili chicken, the dry chili cauliflower !!!!, and string beans with yai cai were fire! But the desserts...Crispy Sweet Rice w Brown Sugar, Crispy Golden Pear not a pear and Sesame buns were all homemade too and amazing! Will definitely return, highly recommend. ”
“ The restaurant is pretty upscale and has modern architecture and design. It is very different from regular Chinese restaurants. The food is expensive as well but we had a good time. Our server was friendly and super nice. All the food items were excellent. The dumplings were perfect. The Singapore noodles were delicious. The eggppant with chili and garlic sauce was the best, and green beans were good as well. We would definitely visit again to try out other food items. I definitely recommend this restaurant for the delicious food and amazing service in addition to a great ambiance. ”
“ Very large restaurant yet very comfortable. The bar is beautiful! We had reservations right when dinner opened, it was quiet by the time we left it was became livelier, mentioning this to help you determine what you are interested in. The hostess greeted us happily. I got the espresso martini, probably the best one Ive had! Not bitter, not overly sweet. For dinner we ordered pork soup dumplings and Peking duck which was delicious! We also got orange chicken, it was also very good, battered really well, loved the flavors. The server Justin was very attentive and friendly, he made sure we had everything we needed and made suggestions on food options. I loved the food robot, very nice feature. Will be back to try more food options as the menu is very big! ”
“ Amazing restaurant with the best Peking duck you can get in the US. I knew of Lao Sze Chuan because I thought it had the best Peking Duck in the US when I visited the ones in Chicago. When I found out that there is one that I can order Uber Eats while in DC I decided to give it a try and it was so good I decided to come to the restaurant the next day to try the duck while its warm. The restaurant is huge and very very well decorated. I almost felt like I was in China when I stepped in because of how well decorated it is. The people working here are interestingly not Chinese but I think they did a great job and you can tell they try their best even if they can be inexperienced at times. Im surprised how much I liked the non Chinese servers here because I usually am picky about that for Asian restaurants. The duck is phenomenally roasted and extremely authentic. Its pretty much the best you can get here in the US. The skin is crispy with the right amount of crunchiness. The cuts are well balanced between meat and skin even though its not done by a Chinese duck cutter. The girl did decent job even if there are cuts that should look more effortless but I like that she is certainly trying her best. Overall it didnt distract from the amazing taste. The price is also extremely reasonable. The spicy appetizer of beef tendon is also on point. It has the correct amount of spiciness. I know Lao Sze Chuan sometimes is a fusion restaurant and sometimes do mix some Cantonese food such as dim sum and Chow fun but I dont recommend them. I think you should order the duck and some Sichuan food here only. Overall Im super glad its expanding to more places and hopefully someday it will come to NorCal. I do hope they can survive because this location is amazing but Im worried its not as popular as it should be. ”
“ The environment as soon as you walk in is stunning. Big tall ceilings, large round tables for many guests, big bar area. Everything felt luxurious from the gold on the chopsticks to the restaurant name on the plates. I read mixed reviews about the drinks but they seem to have fixed it. Previously you would have to get nice cocktails from walking up to the bar, but now they give you a drink menu to order directly from your table. You can see the drink menu in the pictures of my review! The drinks are all very strong! The food is all very flavorful and fancy. I would 100 recommend to others and am already planning my next visit here because the large menu has me already wanting more ”
“ This place is a hidden gem. For those who want an elegant environment with classy decor but also want that old school, homey American Chinese food we all grew up with, this is the place. The food is phenomenal and manages to combine some traditional Chinese dishes with the menu items that American kids from the 80s and 90s grew up eating. The service is excellent. All of the staff are ready and willing to help, give advice and recommendations, and be helpful however they can be. Highly recommend this place for whatever occasion you are celebrating, or if you just want to enjoy d some damn good food. ”
“ I have ordered take out from here in the past and recently ate in at the restaurant in a large group. When ordering take out I thought the food was good, but overpriced. However, when eating in the restaurant, I found the service, presentation of the food and environment of the restaurant to all be excellent, certainly many levels above your average Chinese restaurant. This is probably why the food costs more. So I would only recommend this place if eating in as you will not get your moneys worth of what the restaurant has to offer from takeout. My favorite dishes were the never forget chicken, four flavorful cold dish platter, dry fried shredded beef and sweet and sour Mandarin fish. ”
